Course Details
The online master’s in exercise science program offers two concentrations — Exercise Science and Strength Training and Conditioning — that allow you to tailor your education to your career goals. You’ll also have the flexibility to choose to complete a thesis or practicum, giving you the opportunity to deepen your research experience or gain valuable hands-on professional preparation.
Exercise Science Concentration
This concentration focuses on the physiology behind human performance and health. You will study fitness assessment and management, advanced biomechanics, and exercise management for chronic disease and special populations, preparing you for roles in clinical, corporate wellness and community health settings. Upon graduation you can pursue work as an exercise physiologist, wellness director, community health program manager and more.
Strength Training and Conditioning Concentration
Through this concentration you will prepare to design and lead performance training programs for athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. Coursework covers the nature and basis of movement, performance enhancement, and advanced strength and conditioning program design, giving you the practical skills of a strength and conditioning coach alongside the research foundation of a graduate degree. Earning your master’s in strength training and conditioning online means you can keep coaching while you complete the degree program.

To be admitted to the online master’s degree in exercise science program, the applicant must meet all requirements for admission to the School of Graduate Studies.

Tuition
Graduate tuition is $429 per credit hour. There is a $120 technology fee each semester.
Transfer
As many as 15 hours of graduate credit from an accredited institution may be accepted by UWA toward the master’s in exercise science requirements.
