Prepare for professional advancement and certification with the online Health Sciences MLT to MLS bachelor’s program from the University of West Alabama. An MLT associate degree is required for admission.

In addition to medical laboratory science and lab management topics, you’ll complete coursework exploring the unique needs of rural healthcare practice. You’ll graduate ready to fill in-demand roles doing essential work in underserved regions, critical-access hospitals and more.
Upon completion of the online MLT to MLS program you’ll be qualified for management roles and to perform a wider variety of diagnostic testing. Graduates are also prepared to pursue Medical Laboratory Scientist – MLS certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC).

Admissions

Applicants to the MLT to MLS online bachelor’s program must meet the following admission requirements:
- Currently hold an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Have a minimum of two years’ work experience within the last five years
- Provide a copy of a current MLT certificate
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Complete an online application
- Submit official college and institution transcripts

Tuition
Tuition for the medical laboratory science degree is $325 per credit hour. There is a $75 technology fee each online term.
Transfer
UWA is proud to offer a generous transfer policy. Undergraduate students transferring from a two-year college are eligible to transfer up to 60 credit hours and up to 90 credit hours from a four-year college with matching courses and curriculums.
