Admissions

Your experience at the University of West Alabama is designed to be as straightforward and convenient as possible.   • Complete an online application.
  • Submit official transcript of high school grades or GED scores. The bachelor of sociology online program requires a minimum 2.0 GPA for admission, but high school students with a GPA below 2.5 must also submit ACT or SAT scores.
    • Required scores for unconditional admission:
      • ACT: 19 and above (composite)
      • SAT: 990 and above (combined score)
    • Required scores for conditional admission:
      • ACT: 17-18 (composite)
      • SAT: 920-980 (combined score)
  • Submit official college and institution transcripts (if applicable).

Tuition

Undergraduate tuition is $325 per credit hour. There is also a $60 technology fee each semester.

The University of West Alabama is dedicated to keeping education costs affordable and providing students with a full range of grants, scholarships and loans. Approximately 80 percent of UWA students receive some type of financial aid to support their studies. To apply for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Transfer

UWA Online offers a generous transfer policy at every degree level. Undergraduate students transferring from a two-year college are eligible to transfer up to 60 credit hours toward the online sociology bachelor’s degree, and those transferring from a four-year college with matching courses and curriculums may transfer up to 90 credit hours.
